Bagjata Mine

bagjatamine

Bagjata mine is located in an extremely remote area about 25 km east of Jaduguda. Construction of an all weather road and a bridge over river Sankh Nalla by UCIL during the course of opening up of the mine had a tremendous impact in the development of the surrounding localities. The mine was commissioned in 2008. The principal entry into the mine is through a 7 degree decline. A vertical shaft has been sunk to a depth of 375 metre to meet the requirements of ore hoisting and transportation of men and materials from the deeper levels. The mine employs modern trackless mining system. The principal method of mining is Horizontal Cut-and-Fill with Post and Pillar. The ore of Bagjata mine is sent to Jaduguda by road for processing.
